Although the ACTUAL name of this church is St. Philip the Deacon Episcopal Church, now led by the Rev. Georgia DuBois, this church with its diverse, loving and welcoming parishioners, is a treasure. I recommend you visit!
I read some negative reviews of St. Philips and need to comment. I don't know how old the reviews were, but they are out-of-date. We've visited and found the church to be warm and friendly. Our friend Maria is the rector. She is caring and a deeply spiritual leader. The people went out of their way to welcome us. There were quite a few younger people and families with children in the congregation. I don't think that houses of worship should be rated with stars, like restaurants, so I'm not putting any. (I had to put stars in order to post it, but I don't like the concept.)
Small, but very welcoming congregation. They welcome children and teens and involve them in the service as well as other activities. The sermon was encouraging. A shared meal one Sunday a month. They have been feeding the less fortunate once weekly for many years.
Kind, honest, decent people at this church, who allow my jazz band to rehearse there on Tuesday evenings. In return, we played for their annual picnic this year, and met everyone. A nicer group of people would be hard to meet.
24th and broadway famous chef is there and it looks feels nicer then the last property but with an increased vibe
