I booked Nini for loc extensions and they turned out AMAZING! Nini met with me weeks prior to discuss the process. She figuratively held my hand and let me know everything I was ignorant to (the good, bad, and the ugly). Appointment day was awesome; I was excited and Nini came ready to work, focused. Nini finished way ahead of schedule and far under the original quote. Post styling Nini even took the time to educate me on how to maintain my hair. Nini is professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly warm. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
It was such a treat to have Nini braid my hair. She hooked me up with Senegalese twists and I absolutely love them! She was quick and it looks great. I can lay down and they aren't too heavy. I did these for my wedding in Mexico and I know they are going to make the pictures pop. I am sending everyone to her!
Absolutely loved how clean the place was. Nini was super friendly and very professional. Had a great conversation. As a mixed girl (Kenyan/Iraqi/Polish) it’s hard to find people that will braid my hair and she does all types. Very good quality and very beautiful braids. She also gives you tips and informs you how to take care of the braids. Absolutely worth the price and super easy to make an appointment. She’s always on time even got me in early which was a wonderful surprise on a Friday. My grandma in Kenya also loved the braids and said they were done beautifully well. Absolutely loved getting my hair braided by my beautiful African sister! I will definitely be going back in the future.
This review is long overdue and long, so my apologies Nini! To begin, Nini is a real gem and here's why. My first 3 times using her services, she educated me very thoroughly on my hair after "getting to know it". It was broken off and badly damaged, and she nursed it to health beyond shoulder length in two years. Her prices are beyond fair, simply collect quotes from other salons yourself and you'll see. For a while, she wasn't able to braid hair and I had to, unfortunately, find others to fill in. One person, family recommended, didn't even know how to do Senegalese twists :| She was clearly comfortable only installing Box braids and the photo of a style I thought was nice, she did not adhere to. She put about 14 braids in my hair and charged me 200 dollars when Nini would fill my entire head with braids. Another was a braider from Ghana and she also did not know how to do Senegalese twists, and she used a fine-tooth comb to comb through my hair in its natural DRY state. A Big No No! She used gels and I don't like gel on my hair, my fault for not speaking up, but needless to say, it made my hair super dry, and it broke off. The last salon I went to charged 250 dollars for "medium" braids, which were quite large and I counted about 25 braids. The regular price was 350 mind you, but still not worth 250 dollars when I was used to getting braids where I was not able to count them by looking at them. Wrapping this up, I know it is hard work to stand for so long, and repeat the same motions with your hands to braid hair. My issue with people charging an arm and a leg is that the service and quality of said service do not match the price. You should not charge 350 for "medium" braids and the braids are large (which I suppose may be relative, BUT STILL :) ). If you're having trouble finding a great braider, give Nini a try. She does not disappoint and she's an honest businesswoman. Thank you, Nini!
Nini always does a great job. She gets braids done quickly and well. Very friendly and fun.
