What an adventure for our group of kiddos. Misty planned a wonderful trip for us to kayak and paddle board near Daniel’s Dam. We spent the day exploring the river, picnicking and learning to fly fish. Everyone had a blast! Misty is a wealth of knowledge and has such a natural ability to guide groups of people. We are looking forward to our next trip.
I had a fantastic experience with Misty on a trip to royal Bardiya National Park in Nepal (October 2022)! Prior to the trip he provided an informative briefing with planning materials and Transformative Travel was very responsive to all my silly questions. This trip was delayed due to Covid-19 and I thought Transformative Travel handled the rescheduling very well - I felt confident they weren't going to run off with my deposit money (which has happened to me in the past)! When we arrived in Nepal, it was apparent the monsoon was late and that made fishing difficult at best. However, Misty and the entire crew kept spirits high during the rafting and fishing, pivoted on trip arrangements to make the most of the weather situation, and I had a great experience. They worked with highly professional local businesses and the on-site travel team was solid and even included a wildlife expert and doctor (in addition to Misty's well-known mahseer fishing expertise). I saw amazing wildlife (tiger, leopard, monkeys, rhino, rare crocodiles), and we even found a place to catch mahseer on dry flies despite the conditions. I highly recommend Transformative Travel; especially if you're looking for something a little different from most travel experiences.
This was my second trip lead by Misty, with a nine year gap in between, thanks to Covid. Remarkably Misty hasn't changed! Charming as ever and making a great success out of our Bardia River, (Nepal), fishing trip which could have been a failure due to the river being in flood. But, by shifting the order of play a bit, it was great. We saw a tiger, briefly, and rhino and leopard, so all was not lost. And I caught a catfish! Not quite the mighty mahseer we were after, but a fish none the less! Well done Misty. Thanks also to Conan, who spotted every bird known to man!
When we had our trip to Peru canceled at the last minute because of the political upheaval there, Misty came to the rescue and arranged a fabulous trip to Costa Rica in record time in the middle of high season. He quickly understood what we enjoy in a holiday and, with his intimate knowledge of Costa Rica, arranged most memorable trip for me and my family. We had an ideal balance of beach and mountain/forest, and managed to get into some great eco-lodges. The planning was flawless, and he frequently checked-in to ensure that all was in order. His enthusiasm throughout was contagious. Excellent service from someone with a real passion for travel!!
This trip was awesome!! Me and a friend had no background or experience fly fishing whatsoever. After 4 hours on the water with Misty, we knew how to cast, what to look for when scouting rivers and a better appreciation for the sport. Can't wait to link back up with Misty for more adventures and exploring the DMV with our rods. Thanks!
