Duke’s Grocery is a quintessential DC networking spot serving traditional American food that will never disappoint. I have gone here quite regularly, and I’m always met with the same level of decent hospitality. Although the place will not “wow” you, it will do its job for the fairly priced menu and great locations. Whether meeting friends or mentors, this place is versatile and appeases any tastes. They have indoor and outdoor dining options, including high and low tops and bar seats. I believe it’s a better, more low key environment than it’s neighboring competitor, Founding Farmers. Come here to avoid the lunch lines elsewhere and enjoy great brews and burgers!
The atmosphere on the inside is lively, you will have a blast with a group or the bartender. If you prefer a more quiet setting they will seat you outside in front or outside in the back, the inclosed market are which has a nice vibe. I am a repeated customer who would urge anyone I know to give the Proper Burger a try. They are so good my fiancé and I ordered a third one to share. There are multiple options for vegetarians. The service was so awesome I’m sure they would accommodate for vegans.
The Burgers at Duke's ever disappoints and the pancake brunch was executed well. But the star is the BURGER. The first time you go, get the Proper or the Wagyu, then if you go back and feel you can even justify ordering anything else, go ahead. The service at the Foggy Bottom location was lack luster and the out door "booth" tables could use some TLC. But overall still a must in DC.
This is another awesome location for Duke's Grocery. We generally come here for the burgers and other menu options. Making a reservation is generally a good idea. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Service is good as well. We enough the ambiance and the food here. Among our favorites are: The Proper Burger Fish and Chips White Truffle Mac and Cheese Fired Up Chicken Taken With Liberty The desserts are nice too and good enough to share. The cocktails can be a bit of a miss sometimes. The consistency of the quality of the food and service makes it our top spot for burgers and the other menu items ❤️💕
Tl;dr: subpar brunch spot with overpriced food and lack of cleanliness. I don't understand the positive reviews. For starters my cup was dirty. Gave it to the server for a new one and the new one never came. Cocktails were standard, nothing to rave about. The white truffle mac and cheese was bomb af, which is why I give this 2 stars and not 1. We got plates to share food and they were dirty (see pics). Then one of our orders came with nuts when we specifically requested no nuts (nut allergy) My burger was ordered medium rare. Based off the photo, tell me if that's medium rare. I would not recommend this place to anyone nor will I return.
