I had the honey garlic wings that were very tasty. The mac & cheese and collard greens were ok, I’ve tasted better. Sweet Yams were a little dry as if they were sitting out all day. My partner had catfish po’ boy sandwich with fries. He said the catfish was over-fried. I had the From The Jungle drink but it was too bitter so I switched it for the Black Girl Magic which was amazing.
The whole restaurant is a vibe! From the food to the service to the atmosphere, i enjoyed all of it! Let me just say, I’m from the south. I’ve lived in the south for most of my life. I thought the food was really good! The chicken wings were delicious! The greens were really good, and after adding their hot sauce, they were PERFECT! The Mac and cheese was also very good! The cornbread was different than what I’m used to, but with the honey butter, i thought it was really good! I even tried the beignets. They were different than the beignets I’ve had in New Orleans, but they were still very good! I enjoyed this restaurants take on southern dishes! I definitely will return and I really want to go to brunch!
As a 🎵Southern Girl🎶, my taste buds are never high when visiting any restaurant outside of the South with soul food on the menu. But I am open to trying the different takes/flairs wherever I visit. So Kin was a MUST, especially since it was the only Black owned spot downtown I could find in my research. The food was ok, but the customer service, ambiance & playlist exceeded my expectations. If ever in PVD, I will definitely return.
Took 1 hour for food to come & it was cold & unseasoned. The waffles weren't even fresh, they were very thick & heavy. Only 4 wing flings & I specifically asked if the meal came with whole wings. Grits were undercooked and not delicious at all. Service was not pleasant. Chicken sandwich had very little chicken and sauce, the bacon was very thick & hard. The potatoes were cut so big with no seasoning. And the salt shaker was empty. We're still sitting here thirsty. Took 40 minutes to get a second cup of coffee. Just an bad experience overalll. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone or return here. Too expensive for the service or flavor that was provided to us. By the way were still hungry 😕
Missing my tasty homecooked Southern soulfood traditions terribly, I dropped into Kin after work this past Friday. Once again, I was greeted by warm inviting wait staff, the manager and the owner herself. Ordered dine-in and also to go. Fried chicken wings entree with collard greens, macaroni and corn bread with its secret ingredients. Music and ambiance was relaxing, so I ordered my signature smooth drink of Bacardi black rum and Goslings Ginger Beer...the Mamba Special. Yes, upon tasting this splendid cuisine, I was once again transported back in time to my native Savannah, Georgia. My weekend started out perfectly thanks to this 5 star dining experience and my catfish entree and more delicious sides to go. Come relax here, enjoy yourself and dare to accompany your meal with my signature drink recommendation! As for me, I love Kin and I am definitely coming back again.
