"Wild Hog" burger, ordered "well done". In summary: one can do better at a random roadside McDonald's. The two patties (one hog, one angus) were entirely indistinguishable in texture and flavor ("flavor" isn't the right word, as it wasn't really there). The meat was dry as a lump of flour (well done ≠ grilled to death). The yeasty smelling buns could have benefitted from a couple more minutes on the grill, while the meats should have been taken off a couple minutes sooner. Well, the fries? The fries were nice. We both had burgers, the traditional one was okay since the patty was thicker and not grilled to death (also ordered "well done"), but similarly moist buns.
Anytime I go to a new restaurant I try new items. I have had Lobster recently in another place. I was going down the menu and something caught my eye. They had wild boar. I had to give it a try. I thought it was going to taste gamey. It was tacos. 2 tacos to be exact. I got full. They were big tacos. It was worth a try. Really good service. My wife had the Clam Chowder. Mom had the Steak Tacos. We also got calamari as an appetizer. It's touristy so prices are high.
The area is nice with good scenery and a cool place to hangout. However, the food was sub par for what you pay and the beer is over priced. There were 4 “different” burgers on the menu which all were the same price. I asked the waiter what the difference was between the burgers and he really couldn’t tell me. The “International Famous Burger” is a single patty, but it’s the same price as a double patty. I opted for Wild Hog burger and boy was it disappointing. McDonalds had this thing beat any day. They were really thin, one patty was really small, but neither were even large enough to cover the bun. When I addressed my concerns with both the waiter and manager, they really didn’t know how to respond. Look at the pictures; would you pay $19 for that thing? I can’t believe the cook/chef let that out the back. The manager did make it right and took it off the bill as well as offered a substitute for free. However, I wasn’t happy that we wasted our time at this restaurant. I wouldn’t recommend this place nor would I go back.
This place knows how to handle and prepare seafood! I had a 1/2 dozen clams and oysters . The were cold fresh and delicious. Then had the steamed spice shrimp which was finger licking good. Not your traditional steamed shrimp, it has a buttery spiced sauce all over them that was incredible. Then the lobster cobb was fabulous . A nice sized portion of lobster meat , cold tender and a delectable. If you are visiting Alexandria this place is an excellent causal seafood house. Service was very good.
Unfortunately, The Fish Market has managed to lose another customer. The Food came out burned - the burned fried oysters were only a piece of this debacle at this place. The Service was slow and unattentive, the Manager being aware of the burned food, did nothing. The server, walked by multiple times - we still think she may be lost. The atomsphere, well it's Monday night, and they have replays of Texas A&M playing Alabama on the televisions. This place needs a major overhaul, from the servers to the Management to the cooks. The prices they charge and then deliver a product which is just plain bad. Good luck if you choose to eat here.
