Nikkie is my new braider from now on! She has done braids for me twice--passion twists and bohemian, knotless braids, which both came out excellent. She does quality work with nice, clean parts and does not damage your edges! A major bonus is that she also takes care of YOUR actual hair while they are in protective styles. She uses quality products and gave me a deep treatment and trim before installing braids again. It is extremely rare to find someone that can take care of the underlying hair AND do quality braids. The service is great as she was prompt in both of my appointments and worked tirelessly the whole time. She was also very prompt when communicating and answered all of my questions thoroughly. She told me what type of hair I needed to get and even gave a good recommendation for where to buy some quality braiding hair at a low price. She is honest and down to earth, which I really appreciate. Her work is amazing and I have even referred her to family and friends.
This stylist is a thief. Saturday May 20th, I scheduled a last minute appointment on StyleSeats. Her calendar said she was available so I rescheduled it. I am aware that most last minute appointments have fees and I would've been ok with that. However; I messaged her on May 21st at 8:00am confirming whether or not she saw that I had made an appointment for 10:00am. She messaged back claiming she did not see my appointment until the morning but said I did not follow up "rules" when booking an appointment. I aplogized and told her if she wasn't available I understood as this was a last minute appointment. She without asking me changed the time of the appointment to later in the day. I responded politely and told her that time frame did not work for me. She refused to cancel the appointment and STOLE $63.00. We are now heading to small claims court as a result of her being a thief! I would not recommend booking this thief ever!
WORST HAIRSTYLIST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nikkie/Shaniqua is so extremely rude and unprofessional and it seems like others have had the same issues I had with her. Please do yourself a favor and STAY FAR AWAY. Last Friday (3-3-2023), I had the unfortunate experience of trying to get my hair braided into a cornrow ponytail by Nikkie. I wholeheartedly mean it when I say I wouldn’t wish what I went through with this “hairstylist” on my worst enemy. I was told the price was $170 and had to pay a $50 deposit. However, she charged me more than this. First, Nikkie is extremely rude and nasty to her clients. She talks to you as if she’s better than you and could care less about her clients. Second, Nikkie trimmed my hair and charged me $20 for it without my permission. Unfortunately, I fell asleep for a bit while she was doing my hair and had no idea she trimmed until AFTER we were done and she charged me for it. I guess these days hairstylists just do whatever they want to your hair based on their opinion without asking you?!?!??? Third, apparently you need to make sure you describe in paragraphs and extreme detail about exactly what you want in terms of style. Showing Nikkie multiple pictures of the style you want and describing it in a sentence or two, in addition to further explaining what you want in person, is apparently not enough for her to give you what you want. I showed her (multiple) pictures of a waist length cornrow ponytail I wanted that had curly hair attachments fed into the braid. She knew exactly what I wanted, yet failed to give me my desired style. In fact, I left the salon with a ponytail that (barely) came to my chest area when up on a ponytail. I calmly expressed this to her before leaving the salon for the night. She then proceeded to barrage me and claim that it was entirely my fault for not letting her know the style I wanted. After blaming me for HER mistake (because I had expressed to her several times what I wanted with pictures and orally), she then agreed to fix the style the next morning. Guess what? She never did. Instead, she texted me around midnight saying she “declined” to add the ends in the morning (after already agreeing to do so before we left the salon). It gets much worse. Instead of refunding me the extra money I paid to get the curly ends attached because she said it was my mistake, she REFUSED to refund me my money. Instead, I spent 3+ hours exchanging texts with Shaunda trying to get my money back after her daughter refused to give it back to me. It took me dozens of text message exchanges with Shaunda to finally get (a small portion of) my money back. Word of warning to clients: 1) Please never pay the full amount to Nikkie until after your hair is completed and you are satisfied. My gut told me to refuse to pay anything until she added the ends the next morning (and my gut was right). 2) Try not to use Zelle. Use your credit card, that way you can dispute the charge. I so WISH I had used my credit card so I could just call my credit card company and let them know what happened. They would have reversed in a heartbeat and it would have saved me hours of time and lack of sleep arguing to just get my money back from this place. 3) Go to another hairstylist. There are plenty of other hair braiders in the area who will give you the style you want AND treat you with respect instead of like scum underneath their shoe (and braid your hair for a lesser price). TRUST ME, booking with Nikkie is not worth it. Save your money, time and tears. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere. (P.S. The only good thing that came from this experience was that I ended up watching multiple YouTube videos to try to learn how to extend the length of my braids. I successfully added the inches I desired to obtain waist length braids, although I was unsuccessful in adding the curly hair. Got compliments on my hair for the first time today after fixing what she did to my hair. Just grateful to God that someone’s nasty attitude and such a horrible experience can still turn out positively.)
Nikkie did and excellent job on my son's hair. We didn't think he could get a style because of the length of his hair but Nikkie made it happen! She maintains and and takes care of the hair as well. So not only do you get a cute style, she retwist and oils the scalp with her organic oils she makes. Thank you.
SCAMMER & UNPROFESSIONAL. Devoid of any business etiquette. Do not book Nikkie. First, Nikkie was 30 minutes late. No apologies on her part (first unprofessional red flag). I pre-booked two services for my daughter and paid a $25 deposit: 1) takedown, shampoo and conditioner and 2) feed-in braids with hair added. It took Nikkie 1hr to take out 9 cornrowed braids. For reference, I had already started taking down the braids the night before to help shave off some time so my daughter would not be sitting in her chair too long and it only took me 1hr to take down 3xs the braids Nikkie took out during the appointment. Nikkie's detangling skills are horrible. Nikkie also informed me it is $25 extra if my daughter is tender headed. Although this price was never mentioned in our numerous text communication beforehand or on her business websites, I was fine paying that amount (2nd red flag for her lack of transparency). Upon Nikkie's recommendation I also added a deep conditioning treatment and trim, again fine with paying that. Nikkie then proceeds to inform me right before braiding my daughter's hair that "adding hair" is an additional $45, despite the description on Styleseat (which I used to book the appt) posted $80 with added hair (so Nikkie knew hair would be added and it was included in the style description and $80 price she posted). We also exchanged multiple texts before the appointment that included the exact style I wanted plus pics, confirmation that I was required to bring my own hair (which I did) and my daughter's age. I chose to not get confrontational or haggle with Nikkie in front of my daughter and just get this whole ordeal over with as soon as possible and believe karma will be served eventually. Nikkie's braiding skills are average, nothing spectacular. At one point, I had to intervene and ask the style be modified to actually expedite the appointment because what was suppose to be a 3.5 hr appointment ended up being 5.5 hr appointment. So my daughter didn't even get the style she originally wanted (but she was still pleased, which is a positive). Finally, Nikkie took pictures of my daughter, without my consent. When I texted Nikkie after the appointment to please not post them (regardless if my daughter's face is revealed or not) she responded I would have to pay her money to not post them. Nikkie is unprofessional and an opportunistic scammer. Had she been transparent and honest about the prices, I would have respected her. But waiting until a child is in the middle of services and then hustling a parent for more money is deplorable. Save your money and time, do not book Nikkie.
