The food is very, very tasty! Their buns are extraordinary soft, and their rice items are generally great too. I feel, though there are ample restaurants in Fells Point neighborhood, most of them are simply trash. But Ekiben is a gem in this area, and what makes them even better is their service. Very hospitable, and they'll always serve with a smile.
This place had the first chicken sandwich I’ve had in a while that was so juicy, sweet, and crispy all in one bite. I recommend the “Neighborhood Bird” bao, a super crispy chicken sandwich which only cost about $13 + tax. While I liked it as is, you can ask them to remove the cilantro if it is not for you. Wait time was extremely fast, I don’t think I waited more than 5 mins for my food. Seating can get a bit tight inside, but there are also a couple seats outside as well. If you are driving here, prepare yourself to look for street parking.
Ordered the spicy hometown chicken bun and the chicken meatballs and both were delicious. Chicken was as tender as any I’ve had and the batter was perfectly light and crispy. Bun was a little sweet and sauce was sweet and spicy. Meatballs were also very tasty, herbs and sauce added some nice complexity, pickled cucumbers and onions were sweet and delicious. Already looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu 😊
Such a vibe inside the place, but also has outdoor seating who prefer to enjoy fresh air. They are quite busy with both online and dine-in orders, so be ready to wait a little while. The food is more than amazing, got neighborhood bird (has chicken) with bun. One of the best I’ve had till now. Totally recommended ✌️
Great rice bowl, very filling, very hearty. Very familiar flavours done quite well. And that mint + Asian flavours is just something else, always! Would feed a person and a half. A complete meal with your protein, carbs, salad, pickles and all. Also replete of all textures and flavours - soft, crunch, crisp; sweet, sour, spicy and savoury. I walked a mile back and forth for this. I'd definitely recommend this place. Their buns looked quite nice too, though I didn't get to trying it.
