Fantastic time at this locally owned store. The owner was kind, engaging, and accomodating. There is a wide range of garments for men and women to choose from, and authentic Kente. The owner also creates custom pieces. We found everything we were looking for and MORE. Parking is limited so you might have to park across the street. Worth it!
I bought a jumper from Macys. The jumpsuit still had store tag on it The pant length was a bit longer. On June 23, I took the pant to Effe to be shortened along with two blouses and a skirt that was tight and needed them to be opened up a bit. I called the store before l went there. A lady who was attending the store called Ms Effe from a nearby place and encouraged me to look around the store while Ms. Effe arrives. When she arrived, l showed her the materials and explained what l needed done. She complimented that my jumpsuit is pretty and l said, thank you. I asked her if I could collect the materials the next day because l needed them for an event. She said she won’t be able to get it done for pickup the next day. When you walk into the store, they act nice and had TB Joshua sermons fixed on their television. I said ok that she won’t be able to get the materials that I needed the next day ready. I suggested that she can shorten the length of my jumpsuit while l check with one of the dry cleaning places to see what they can do. She changed her mind and said I can get the ones that I needed opened up the next day and charged $180.00. She informed me that she will call me for the price pertaining the jumps because she doesn’t know if the clothing material will allow threading. I agreed. The next day, I was very busy and l asked my husband to pick up the clothes for me. As me and Ms Effe discussed, l received my two blouses and a skirt that needed opened up. I waited for her call as she said, the call never came. On July 6, I called the store to see if my jumpsuit was ready and that I would like to pick it up. Ms Effe said she doesn’t have any body’s clothing. I rehearsed my conversation with her and hopped to jug her memory. On July 7th, l went back to the store and thinking that putting a face to the conversation would help her out. I was wrong. She was questioning me why l sent my husband to pick up my clothes instead. She claimed that she gave my husband my jumpsuit that she originally wouldn’t have time to complete on the next day service. She accused me of taking too long to come and get my clothing. I asked her to please look for my material and call me. She never called me. I have called her several times and even leaving messages. She still doesn’t call me and have refused to answer my calls. My advice: Don’t give her expensive/high quality material to make or to amend, it, you will never get it back. She does not give any tag or receipt for taking your material and can claim she gave it back knowing it is not true.
I love this store and the owner is great. I am satisfied with everything I purchased so far; and look forward to my special orders in the future.
Visited Effe & Co looking for a gown to wear to a Gala that my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta was having the next day. As soon as I explained what I needed I was taken to a room filled with beautiful hand made dresses. When I saw this off the shoulder gown (my signature look) I had to have it! It was if the dress was made for me! I received so many compliments during the event I attended! If you are ever in need of quality made african attire go to Effe & Co she has what you need and if she doesn't she will make it for you!!!! Her shop is very clean and very welcoming, and the customer service is superb!
Each time I've been in Effe& Co. It has been a a very pleasant experience. She takes her time and helps me choose a look that is just for me. she helps make the right decision. I receive so many compliments on y clothes
