This is “thee” BEST LOCATION!!!! Hyattsville you can not go wrong at this location. The food is delicious! The atmosphere is welcoming and the service is exceptional!!! I really need to try something different but I’m hooked on certain things from there. The Jerk Salmon, the Carolina Catfish, their macaroni and cheese, greens, cabbage, and potato salad is so yummy yummy yummy. If you haven’t given them a try I suggest you do! HYATTSVILLE location only!!!
A really great place. Our waitress Shay was on it. The serving sizes are big so you get what you pay for. A really busy place as well. Their sweet tea is on grandma's level. The best tea I had in a sit down restaurant. This goes without question give this place a shot.
The service was on point! We had Carlton as a waiter, and he was attentive and friendly. The drinks were delicious, they tasted like juice but carried a punch. The food was flavored well, and I feel like I had the right amount. The only thing I would change is appetizer portions. They were good, but they aren't really sharable. The manager, William, came to check on us, and it added a nice touch to the experience.
I Love Carolina Kitchen! Soul food is my fav and The food is amazing!! I like the convenience of the restaurant being located next door a movie theater. When we feeling like dinner and a movie it’s worth the drive for date night !!
There was a time I would have given this restaurant 5 stars across the board. It's disappointing not to have that same opinion. The quality of the food is just good now; it was great. The food arrived luke warm. Often, the menu items are inconsistent. For example: the baked chicken is sometimes tender, sometimes not, or it can be salty or spicy. The macaroni is overcooked at times and not enough cheese in the mac and cheese. It tastes like chicken broth, too. As well as chicken broth will season pasta, it shouldn't be the dominant flavor of macaroni and cheese. Their dessert options are not always on point. When you know you have a customer favorite item that should be available by any means necessary. The sweet potato cake and pie should be a staple. And, the drink fountain is often crowed from cutomers waiting for tea and/or lemonade. It's near the register, too, so that creates congestion. The service is kind of hit or miss. It really depends on who is working that day. Shockingly, management has the worst customer service there. There's a manager who's a light-skinned female. She's usually at the register. She is unfriendly, doesn't smile ever, nor does she seem happy to service customers. I mean, when it's time to pay, it is where customers should feel the most warmth. Do you really want someone asking for customers' money (and it's expensive) with a chilly personality? She never says thank you, come again, good to see you... nothing! The atmosphere is okay. It could be nicer, but again, that is a staffing concern. The restaurant and the self seating area could use a face-lift. I really think it's important to wipe the tables behind each customer, too. Nobody should be seated behind someone else's old food, saliva, used napkin, or anything else. That should be common courtesy, training, and certainly food industry standards. If a customer asks to have a table washed, they don't mean brush the food items on their lap. And, for goodness sake... sweep the doggone floor! The restroom area is usually decently clean and well supplied. We forgot to take pictures of our food, but my crab cake was left, so it's pictured here at home the next day.
