This place is an absolute hidden gem. I ordered the lunch special with jerk chicken, white rice, and mixed veggies. Plenty of food on the plate (as you can see in the picture) for $15 (with a drink). The whole meal was full of flavor, the chicken had a nice spicy kick to it, and the wait stuff was incredibly nice and very helpful to any questions I had about the jamaican drink choices (bottled) and the food overall. If you have a chance to come here, absolutely do so. I'll be returning for sure.
At Karubees , my boyfriend and I were greeted by the owners Wife , who was extremely nice and helpful. She allowed me to try the goat meat because I was unfamiliar with the dish. She catered to my taste and recommended us the best dishes! The food was amazing! Best restaurant in Charleston, WV! :)
Yes! The food was amazing! Being a vegetarian, it can be hard to get a nice meal out that’s not a salad and this place met my need for a hot plate of deliciousness. The collards were the best I’ve had outside of my own. That cabbage and rice with a little spicy kick, just too good. I love me some plantains and Karubees hit the spot with them. It’s real home cooked food here. If you’ve been thinking about trying this place just go now. Your taste buds will thank you later.
Great service and incredible food. We came for brunch and I enjoyed the best shrimp and grits I've ever had - the bar has been reset. The beverages are awesome too! We tried the ginger beer, the cream soda, the pink ting, and the lychee drink and they were all so unique and tasty. A must-try for anyone in the area!
Visiting Charleston for the weekend and wanted something fun for lunch- Karubees menu is amazing and we wanted to try everything. Best lunch I have had in a very long time, and after we finished there was enough food for three days of lunch left. Chicken and goat curry, jerk chicken, oxtails, Mac and cheese, collard greens, rice and peas, fried plantains..... Everything was AMAZING and has its own flavor. Bina was an amazing host and took great care of us, definitely will return when I'm back in Charleston.
