Pros: My first community dance class was with this organization and they have not hindered since. They share the passion for African dance by continuing its legacies through our youth. Although not the only African company in our area today they our the eldest established in 1969. Cons: I would love more consistent opportunities to see them perform and offer outreach to more diverse communities. Many organizations in Milwaukee can benefit from this longstanding company.
The Ko-Thi dance Company, one of Milwaukee's greatest iconic cultural treasures, is celebrating 50 years of outstanding service to our community. It's founder, Fern Caulker, has brought creativity, history, pride and knowledge thru lively African dance, drumming and story telling influenced by her native Sierria Leon, West Africa and the diaspora. The company continues to flourish as it entertains and educates through full length productions and school performances while developing a new generation of well trained, adult professional dancers and drummers to carry on the traditions as well as Ton Ko-Thi, the children's dance company, inspiring 21st century creativity that will propel the Ko-Thi Dance Company into the next 50 years!!
Stellarly individuals coming together in the essence of culture, dance, history, and sound. Incredibly welcoming and accepting of all. Ferne is truly creating something beautiful here. Honesty & Love, Erin
