I'm very picky even if it's just a small hair cut and when I heard about Samoyah, I was hesitant like I am to most stylest. From my experiences from the past, I've rather pay a little more to get the best services & I'm so glad I gave Samoyah a chance. I've been going to her for cuts for 3 years now and she's wonderful! She takes her time, asks questions and educate before she does anything. That's what I like about her! Recently we won a balayage giveaway from her and she did such a great job on my daughter that I'm considering going to get mine done too! I recommend her to anyone!
Samoyah was wonderful and helpful when I showed her some looks I was going for and then running with them! She also cut my curly hair and did a fantastic job which has been really hard for me to find in madison! The colors look wonderful when blown out but also even more amazing when my hair is naturally curly! I can’t wait to go back!!!
I am NOT one to write reviews (especially negative ones). However, every single time I look at my botched balayage, I get the urge to write one. Before I say anything else, I want to compliment Samoyah. She was very nice and fun to talk to. She also texted me shortly after my appointment and offered to fix my hair. I came to know about Hair by Samoyah through Instagram. I looked through her page and was in love with her work. I actually showed her a photo from her Instagram as inspiration for what I was hoping to have mine look like . I had my university graduation and grad photos coming up just days after the appointment so I wanted to get my hair done to feel fresh, confident, and beautiful. I’ve never paid someone nearly $300 (or anywhere near that price quite frankly) for a full balayage service, but I figured that since I a) loved her work and b) she had previously done my dream hair color on someone else, that my resulting confidence would be worth the price. You’d also think that paying NYC prices in Madison, WI would get you exactly what you were hoping for. However, I walked out of the salon with nearly $300 less, hair that was not remotely similar to what I wanted, and diminished self confidence. Unfortunately, my graduation photos were just a few days after this whole disaster so I was not able to go in to get my hair fixed by Samoyah (or anyone else for that matter) before that important event. I’m not saying that my experience is the norm for her... from her Instagram and social media, her work is beautiful and she’s clearly talented. However, I would caution you to not let her high price tags fool you into thinking you’ll be getting services of equal value. I was luckily able to get an appointment at another salon and got exactly what I was looking for (and paid nearly $100 less). There are many other highly talented stylists in the Madison area.. I would encourage you to look elsewhere.
Samoyah is an outstanding artist with an abundance of creativity. She is courteous, professional, and always ready to help you achieve the hair goals of your dreams. I highly recommend visiting her at The Hair Collective!
